Data-driven rate-dependent fracture mechanics

نویسندگان

چکیده

We extend the model-free data-driven paradigm for rate-independent fracture mechanics proposed in Carrara et al. (2020), to rate-dependent and sub-critical fatigue. The problem is formulated by combining balance governing equations stemming from variational principles with a set of data points that encodes constitutive behavior material. solution found as point best satisfies meta-stability condition given procedure following distance minimization approach based on closest-point-projection. tested different setups adopting types fatigue models affected or not white noise.

Rate-Dependent Fracture at Adhesive Interface

Schallamach’s theory of rate-dependent bond dissociation is used to understand the fracture of a polymerglass interface. The model system consists of an elastomeric film (20 μm thick) of poly(dimethylsiloxane), chemically bonded to a silanized glass substrate. The fracture energy of the interface varies logarithmically with velocity, which is consistent with Schallamach’s theory of forced bond ...

Fracture mechanics-based life prediction of a riveted lap joint

In this paper, three-dimensional modeling of the fatigue crack growth profiles was performed in a simple riveted lap joint. Simulation results showed that mode I was dominated on the one side of the plates and the crack straightly grew on this side, while the other side of the plates was in a mixed-mode condition and the crack propagation path was not straight on this side. Afterward, the fract...

Cracks Analysis in Zavin Concrete Dam Using Fracture Mechanics Approach

Most of the existing concrete dams are subjected to cracking. These cracks are caused by various factors such as construction practices, curing, loads and volume change of mass concrete which reduce the efficiency, failure or instability of concrete dams. Using fracture mechanics as a new method to estimate stability and durability of concrete dams is recommended in scientific publications in w...
